Artist Statement
The constant presence of liminality in my paintings.
Liminality means more than a personal rite of passage — it is the literal and metaphorical space between two naturally opposing forces, the in-between grey area.
Limited, muted palettes tread the middle ground. Landscapes hold the struggle of heaven and earth at sunset, sunrise, and dusk. Technique oscillates between cognitive and instinctive painting — between Rembrandt’s depth and alla prima immediacy.
